Traffic Management Plan Overview

Traffic Management Plan — Site-specific safety document detailing how road users and workers are kept safe during road disruptions.

Purpose

  • Safety: Minimize risk to public and workers
  • Efficiency: Manage traffic flow, reduce delays
  • Compliance: Meet legal obligations under HSWA 2015

When Required

Any activity that varies normal road reserve conditions:

  • Road/footpath excavation or repair
  • Scaffolding or cranes on berm
  • Public events (parades, marathons, festivals)
  • Tree felling, heavy vehicle deliveries

Who Creates It

  • Must be designed by qualified person
  • Usually a TTM Planner or STMS
  • Submitted to RCA via Corridor Access Request (CAR)
